Global Security Communications & Training Manager, Workplace Solutions

The Workplace Solutions Marketing & Communications team is looking to add a Communications & Training Manager to support our Global Security client, promote their services and programs across the enterprise, and educate employees about their safety and security responsibilities.The individual in this role will build strategies to educate targeted and enterprise audiences about emergency and safety procedures, life safety services, threat management and more.

A typical day in the life of this Communications & Training Manager:

  • Partner with Global Security leaders, other teams and stakeholders to support the team’s strategic vision, ensure desired outcomes and achieve targeted results.

  • Work with Global Security leadership to create, lead and manage multiple comprehensive communications strategies, change management plans and training plans for complex, high-priority security initiatives.

  • Analyze existing Global Security portal content and engage internal and external partners to identify opportunities for improvement that will create clear and concise safety and security content for all audiences.

  • Respond immediately to a sudden life-safety emergency by proactively drafting messages for a variety of internal channels including intranet, mobile, email and text.

  • Work with Associate Relations, the Workplace Solutions portfolio team and the broader Security team to respond to a crisis situation in one of our locations.

  • Attend a Global Security or Workplace Solutions meeting, and share updates on communications initiatives.

  • Travel between our Richmond VA and Tysons VA campuses to engage with Global Security leadership and teammates.

  • Draft and send a communication promoting life safety training, and then an email about K9 patrols at one of our locations.

  • Brainstorm with a teammate on how to engage employees in monthly safety- and security-related company-wide awareness events.

  • Writer: You’ll draft day-to-day associate-facing communications as they relate to safety and security.

  • Trainer: You’ll build associate communications and training plans including targeted training and educational resources.

  • Problem-solver: You’ll partner with your customers to understand their intent and goals, develop plans that meets their needs, and relentlessly pursue options to deliver stellar results.

  • Team Player: You’re willing to drop everything to help a teammate, and you’re comfortable collaborating with teammates and other stakeholders at all levels.

  • Storyteller: You develop clear and persuasive stories around safety and security at Capital One and ensure complex content is relatable and easy to understand.

  • Juggler: You don’t get overwhelmed or flustered easily. You keep track of multiple projects at once, continuously prioritize your work, manage your time efficiently and appropriately, and communicate clear expectations around scope and scheduling with your manager and the broader team.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree or military experience

• At least 5 years of experience in developing and implementing integrated communication strategies

• At least 5 years of experience in partnering with and coaching senior executives on effective communications that support organization objectives

• At least 5 years of experience in Oral and written communications

• At least 5 years of experience in Managing multiple projects

• At least 5 years of experience in Managing communication channels

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communications, Marketing or Public Relations

• 10 Years of experience in Developing and implementing integrated communication strategies to drive organizational change and achieve measurable results based on business objectives.

• 5 years of experience in Partnering with and coaching senior executives on effective communications that support organization objectives
