Manager - Credit Policy Risk Management
The Consumer Credit Risk Management (CCRM) team is currently seeking a Manager, Consumer Credit Policy Management. This is an exciting opportunity for a well-rounded associate to join a high performing team of second line credit policy experts, who seek to strengthen the credit policy and requirements infrastructure. As a member of the Consumer Credit Policy Management Team, the right candidate will interact with senior executives inside and outside of the department while managing the below responsibilities.
The Consumer Credit Policy Management Team in CCRM is responsible for documenting and managing the Credit Risk Management Policy and supporting documents that establish the mechanisms for governing consumer credit risk at Capital One. These policies define the processes for granting and managing credit and the measurement and monitoring of credit risk, which are vital to the daily activities of the company.
We are in search of an experienced individual to join this team, to focus on the development and maintenance of credit policies. The ideal candidate would have a solid understanding of the company’s credit risk principles as they relate to key credit activities, and a familiarity with the processes and controls that govern those activities. The ideal candidate will also have substantial knowledge and experience with bank regulations. The ability to build relationships, collaborate, understand first line processes and effectively influence to drive decisions in a cross functional environment is required to be successful in this role.
The ideal candidate should have prior experience working with senior leaders, a background in risk management, compliance, or legal, and possesses a working knowledge of fundamental credit concepts. Exceptional writing skills and very strong results orientation are essential.
The range of subject matter for which the Credit Policy Management Team is responsible is wide and will provide an opportunity for meaningful professional growth. The person in this position is expected to offer a credible challenge related to the quality and efficiency of policy oversight, and will have the opportunity to influence improvements to strengthen credit governance at Capital One.
Manage the end-to-end process of policy management (including renewals of existing documents and the creation of new documents), comprised of gathering or developing content proposals, vetting proposed changes, seeking approvals, crafting communications, and training
Review summaries of new laws and regulations to ensure that credit policies remain compliant
Engage with CCRM and LOB leadership to ensure that policy remains in sync with the ever-changing credit environment, along with maintaining a dialogue with other stakeholders, such as Compliance and Regulatory Relations
Additional department initiatives / projects as needed
Bachelor’s degree or military experience
At least 4 years of experience in credit risk management, risk management, compliance, or legal experience
At least 3 years of experience writing business documents
At least 3 years of experience working with senior leaders
field focused on consumer lending (credit card, auto, retail banking, small business) OR at least 2 years of experience working as a business analyst / consumer credit decision owner
At least 5 years of experience in credit risk management, risk management, or compliance
At least 4 years of experience interacting with and writing documents for senior leaders
At least 3 years of experience working as a business analyst or credit decision owner
At least 2 years of experience working with credit risk policies
