Manager - State Tax Planning

Responsibilities of the Manager - State Tax Planning
Research various state tax issues such as nexus, apportionment factors, filing methods, sales/use tax and new legislative developments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on corporate acquisition and reorganization issues
Evaluate and calculate state tax impacts of various projects and legislative initiatives
Review new products from business lines to identify state tax issues or risks
Identify potential state tax savings opportunities including restructuring, filing methodologies and state tax credit opportunities
Review various contracts for state tax issues
Collaborate with state tax compliance team on state tax compliance issues
Review high impact state tax returns
Occasional travel to other Capital One offices or tax seminars
Position reports directly to the Sr. Director, State Tax Planning
Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience
At least 5 years of state tax experience
Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or J.D.
Tax experience in public accounting or financial services environment strongly preferred
LL.M Tax, MS in Tax, or CPA
Strong communication, research and writing skills
Excel/Google Sheets experience
Ability to adapt to new and changing technologies to improve processes and efficiencies
