Principal Scrum Master for the Technical Operations Center

Job Qualification

In the Technical Operations Center Scrum Master (SM) role, you'll serve as the servant leader for your team, for the product owner, and for the organization as whole. The SM will drive the Kanban methodology focused on predictable, quality delivery and driving continuous improvement of the team. The SM will facilitate team productivity by removing impediments that may obstruct the pursuit of the team's goals and by preserving flexibility and ability to rapidly respond to changes on the team.

Service to the Team

  • Coaching the team in self-organization and cross-functionality

  • Removing impediments to the team’s progress to its sprint commitments

  • Facilitating Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups

  • Enacting change & continuous improvement to increase the productivity of the team and quality of work

  • Coaching the team in organizational environments in which Agile is not yet fully adopted and understood

  • Ensure team execution and delivery to committed sprint work

  • Protect team from over-commitment

Service to the Product Owner

  • Finding techniques for effective Product Backlog management

  • Creates forum for communicating vision, goals, and Product Backlog items to the team

  • Teaching the team to create clear and concise Backlog items

  • Understanding long-term product planning

Service to the Organization

  • Leading and coaching the organization in its Agile adoption

  • Planning Agile implementations within the organization

  • Helping associates and stakeholders understand and enact Agile in their lines of business

  • Identify, manage, help mitigate project issues and risks

  • Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Agile

  • Compliance with Capital One policies for project delivery

A successful Scrum Master will:

  • Collaborate and partner within and beyond one’s team; build productive relationships with others

  • Communicate effectively across diverse audiences within and outside of the Team

  • Motivate and model open communication to help surface issues for faster resolution

  • Remove obstacles for the team or direct obstacles to appropriate owners for quick resolution

  • Provide perspective to the team and keeps team focused on critical deliverables and tasks

  • Possess the ability to work with and influence wide range of stakeholders across roles and levels

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Scrum Master on technology projects

  • At least 4 years of experience with Kanban

  • At least 5 years in technology delivery

  • Certified Scrum Master or Certified Scrum Professional

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree

  • 2+ years experience in software development or technical experience

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

  • 2+ years in AWS or other cloud platforms

  • 3+ years in Incident Management

  • 2+ years of experience with Jira

  • 1+ years of experience with EazyBI
