Sr Manager, High Line Credit Risk Underwriting (Small Business Card)

Our High Line Underwriting Team within Small Business Card is growing. We are seeking an experienced Business Banking professional accountable for leading and developing a team of high line underwriters.

In this role, you will have primary accountability for these key areas:

  • High Line Credit Decisions: You will have credit authority for making high line credit decisions that balance risk / revenues to meet business targets.

  • Team and Talent Development: In this capacity, you will also recruit, develop, and manage a team of underwriters who are trained to make high line credit decisions.

We are seeking a candidate that has significant commercial or small business underwriting experience and managerial experience who can recruit new talent and build a high performing underwriting team. You will need excellent time management skills and a proven track record of setting and meeting ambitious goals.

The candidate will be on point for developing associates’ commercial/small business underwriting skills and partnering with the High Line teams, Client Development and Product Teams.


  • Attain and maintain proper credit authority status

  • Improve commercial/small business underwriting decision performance

  • Execute on talent management activities to meet LOB goals

  • Manage to the Operations’ budget to achieve business goals

  • Develop near and long term staffing business goals/vision

  • Deliver high quality process and workflow changes

  • Create a positive associate experience, develop an associate engagement program focused on developing underwriting talent and rewarding and recognizing associates

  • Design efficient and effective underwriting processes that create great customer experiences

  • Ensure compliance with all federal and regulatory requirements

  • Develop and manage controls to mitigate risks

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of People Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience leading a team accountable for Commercial or Small Business underwriting
