Capital One is hiring a Technical Writer to join our incredible team of talented technologists in Shared Tech. The Shared Tech Architecture team provides technology solutions that span the enterprise and are used across multiple Capital One lines of business and our internal workforce.
Our Technical Writers play an important part in achieving our goals. They are part of our multi-disciplinary teams who develop, launch, and enhance products and services that drive our business forward in innovative ways.
Capital One Architecture is a core unit within Capital One, responsible for driving our overall architecture strategy and ensuring that we deliver. We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to develop and curate technical documentation for the customers of our Architecture products. The candidate will work in conjunction with Architects, Product Management, Design, and Engineering, to provide input on the overall layout of a more effective agile documentation practice. Ultimately you will play a vital role in empowering agile teams across the enterprise to push code and software products at warp speed.
Review documentation for consistency across processes through application of standards and style guides
Continue to challenge our standards and templates, plus the rigor with which our documentation is written against these standards
Edit, standardize, or revise material prepared by other writers or personnel
Write in a formal technical writing style (for example, active voice, implied you, consistent tenses, etc.)
Work as an integral part of an agile development team to research, plan, and produce content for a wide range of audiences, with a primary focus on architects and developers, to meet the evolving needs of these users
Conduct in-depth interviews with subject matter experts to fully understand the architecture or products
Collaborate with agile engineers on a daily basis to ensure documentation is kept up-to-date
Rely upon metrics and other forms of data to understand the variation in utility of the content, and identify areas in need of review
Ensure all material is updated when new features or iterations of a software are implemented
Maintain and continuously update content management system(s) of documentation
Participate in Agile and Lean methods with numerous teams to establish routines that guarantee positive results of iterative materials
High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification, or military experience
At least 3 years of experience documenting technology products or architectures
Bachelors degree, preferably in either journalism or another field in the Humanities
At least 2 years of experience working in an Agile environment
At least 2 years of experience documenting materials in a regulated industry
At least 2 years of experience with a Content Management Framework
At least 2 years of experience with Markdown
