Business Transformation Manager

As a Transformation Manager at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. You'll team with world-class professionals to develop and test strategies that ultimately impact the bottom line.   • Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive growth, limit losses, and create competitive advantage through well managed success for Capital One

  • Leadership: Will work in a matrixed environment to coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining risk management talent at Capital One

  • Product: Enhance current processes and programs to transform them into the digital age and beyond

  • Execution: Manage and sequence delivery of risk intent, build risk framework and execute against the Bank strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently.

  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and decrease loss.

  • Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & risk management

  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business

  • Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. He/she should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results

  • Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment

  • Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous project management experience a plus

The ideal candidate will exhibit:

  • Integrative thinking to push the risk team towards improved performance

  • Ability to pull data and massage it to derive logical interpretation and health assessment; also autonomy in performing simple data analysis and preparing reports using Tableau or other platforms

  • Knowledge and passion for emerging technologies and operations and how they are used to deliver great products for Risk Management

  • Strategic thinking and an ability to effectively identify opportunities for growth in new businesses and markets

  • A high level of intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with key partners and vendors

  • Core analytical skills to build business cases and strategy for new products

  • Solid Business Analytics

  • Act as key data lead to leverage versatile technical capabilities to drive the development, evolution, and implementation of data products, which enable self-service by data consumers

  • Develop prototypes and run experimentation for business intelligence tools, solutions, and techniques

  • Assist in development of standards and policies for business intelligence framework

  • Evaluate data management, data quality and data access processes for gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities; provide recommendations for improvement

  • Implement solutions and processes for management and governance across data quality metrics, metadata, lineage, data access rights and business definitions

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in querying and analyzing and working with data platforms

  • At least 2 years of experience working with Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in querying and analyzing and working with data on multiple platforms

  • 3+ years of experience working with Agile development methodologies

  • Scripting experience in (Python, Perl, JavaScript, Shell)

  • Strong desire and experience with data in various forms (data warehouses/SQL, unstructured data environments/PIG,HIVE, Impala)

  • Experience leading projects to deliver complex data management solutions; working with internal and external partners
